1. I worked 12 hours one day this week, why didn't I get overtime?

Overtime and Comp Time for all employees but the Sheriff’s Commissioned Officers accumulates after you have worked 40 hours in a week. So if you worked 12 hours on Tuesday but then took off later in the week, you wouldn’t have passed 40 hours for the workweek (a workweek begins on Sunday at 12:01 a.m. and ends on Saturday at midnight).

3. How are County holidays determined?

Employee Handbook Policy #305 sets out the holidays and what happens when a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday. Holidays observed are as follows:

• New Year’s Day
• Martin Luther King’s Birthday
• President’s Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Veteran’s Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• The day after Thanksgiving; and
• Christmas Day

Contact the Clerk's office at 785-403-0000 for information and forms to change beneficiaries. Remember to check your beneficiaries periodically.

8. How do I add a child to my health insurance plan?

Contact the County Clerk's office at 785-403-0000 or tgarrow@jfcountyks.com to add a child to your plan. You must complete a Blue Cross Blue Shield change form to make the change.
