The deadline to report your 2012 Rendition is Thursday, March 15, 2012.
The Jefferson County Appraiser's Office mailed the 2012 Renditions on December 31, 2011. Every person, association, company, or corporation who owns, holds, or controls any tangible personal property, is required by law to list such property for assessment with the County Appraiser on or before March 15th every year.
There are many different kinds of personal property including: boats, boat motor, boat trailer, atv, mobile home, golf carts, snow mobile, trailers, oil & gas, non-highway motor vehicles, motor vehicles with a gross weight greater than 12,000 lbs., non-highway motor vehicles, public utilities, commercial/industrial machinery and equipment, aircraft, etc.
(If you acquired or sold any of these items, you will need to provide our office with a Bill of Sale)
If you did not receive your Rendition to report these items, please contact our office at (785) 863-2080 and we can mail a duplicate one.
Please be aware that if our office does not receive your 2012 Rendition on or before March 15th, state mandated penalties will apply to your account. There is a 5% penalty for each month after the deadline up to 25% or a 50% penalty for not returning the Rendition throughout the 2012 tax year.
If you have sold your watercraft after January 1, 2012 please be aware that effective July 1, 2007 law was established that a notice of acquisition or sale of a watercraft be provided to the County Appraiser within 30 days was replaced. The requirement of such notification is now December 20th of the year of acquisition or sale.
