The Jefferson County Planning & Zoning department is currently taking applications for potential planning commissioners. This is a 7-member volunteer board that meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Commissioner Room of the Courthouse, unless otherwise noted. Mileage and training are paid for.
The primary role of the Planning Commission is to preside over public hearings and make recommendations to the Governing Body of Jefferson County. The Planning Commission also approves plats, interprets and sets forth Zoning Regulations and reviews the Comprehensive Plan annually.
