As of Sunday, January 30th all confirmed and probable COVID cases will be automatically sent to KDHE for investigation and follow-up. If you have had a lab confirmed positive or probable test result, and you miss a phone call or are not contacted you can call 785-542-6625 and leave a message, someone will promptly return your call or email kdhe.covidinvestigation@ks.gov.
KDHE will not be assessing positive/probable cases for contacts. If you have a positive/probable test result, please notify your close contacts to let them know they may have been exposed, and to get tested if they begin to have any symptoms.
KDHE case investigators will provide the current isolation time frame outlined below to cases:
o General population should isolate at home for 5 days following onset (or specimen collection date if asymptomatic) and can return to normal activities while wearing a mask from day 6 through day 10 if symptoms have improved and they are without a fever without use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours. If they are unable to wear a mask, then they should remain isolated at home for 10 days.
Cases who work in a healthcare setting are informed that their employer may lengthen or shorten their isolation time from their facility depending on staffing needs but are informed to follow general population guidance outside of the healthcare facility.
Cases with association to a congregate setting (excluding K-12 schools) are informed that they should isolate away from said congregate settings for 10 days following onset (or specimen collection date if asymptomatic), but are informed to follow general population guidance outside of the congregate setting/s.
o Cases <2 years of age should isolate at home for 10 days following onset (or specimen collection date if asymptomatic) since they are not recommended to wear a mask.
