To the citizens of Jefferson County:
In these unprecedented times, we are confronted with a nearly constant stream of information. Some of this information is, frankly, not accurate. First, we want to reassure the residents of Jefferson County that Jefferson County Ambulance Service continues to respond to all 911 calls. We are continuing to provide Advanced Life Support services and a safe and sanitary transport environment for our patients. Regardless of this pandemic or other crisis, our focus continues to be providing the highest level of care and safety to our patients.
Second, we are in regular communication with Federal, State and Local officials to evaluate the on-going precautions, guidelines and practices as they pertain to COVID 19. Our team continues using the most current recommendations from the KSBEMS, CDC, NIH and KDHE in our response to this pandemic and with the available supplies. We continue partnering with local hospitals and Emergency Management for safe patient handling and the resupply of personal protective equipment.
Third, we remain committed to keeping all aspects of our operation functioning for as long as possible with minimal interruptions. We are monitoring the health of our staff in order to keep as many of our staff healthy and provide the service that is expected. Please understand that we are asking our staff to maintain social distancing and maintaining a distance of 6 feet from other people when possible when they are not at work. We are all taking active steps to confront these challenges head-on and find solutions that make sense, keep our workforce safe and healthy and keep our ambulances rolling.
Finally, we would like to thank the public for their help and support during this uncertain time, but your efforts thus far have clearly been working! We encourage you all to continue promoting good hygiene, washing hands often and using hand sanitizer, disinfecting surfaces and self-monitoring for flu-like symptoms. Be vigilant, be aware and we will be there when you call!
