Marriage Licenses
- Effective December 18, 2020, all marriage license applications must be completed online. Please visit the Kansas Judicial Branch's Marriage License Web page for application forms, complete instructions, and other information.
- Certified copies of marriage licenses can only be obtained by contacting the Office of Vital Statistics in Topeka, KS at (785) 296-1400.

Marriage License FAQs:
- How much does a marriage license cost?
A marriage license costs $85.50*. The fee will be paid at the time of application and will be collected through the Centralized Court Payment Center. *plus processing fee
- What is the waiting period for obtaining a marriage license:
The State has a mandatory 3-day waiting period. You may apply for a 3-day waiver online if needed. If selected then the application
will be forwarded to a Judge for approval.
- What are the office hours:
Our office is open for walk-in and phone calls during the following hours:
Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.*
Friday 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.*
*excluding legal holidays
- How do I get certified copies of a Marriage License:
Certified copies of marriage licenses can only be obtained by contacting the Office of Vital Statistics in Topeka, KS at

- Who is authorized to officiate a marriage under Kansas state law?
Please refer to KSA 23-2504 for individuals authorized to be officiating persons.
- How do I schedule a wedding to take place at the courthouse or to have a Judge perform my ceremony?
Contact our office to arrange for the Judge to reach out to you. We must have a name, email address, phone number and date of the wedding (if known). That information will be forwarded to the Judge and you will be contacted for further information.
